The big thing with Season 13 isn't just that the Paladin is back on the board. It's how much of your late-game strength now sits outside your usual weapon and armour rolls. You can still chase better Diablo 4 Items, of course, but once you start pushing harder Torment tiers, the Seal setup starts to matter just as much. A half-finished Seal feels fine early on. Then you hit the wall. Damage drops off, survivability gets shaky, and suddenly those locked slots look a lot more important than one more lucky legendary drop.



Skovos progression matters more than people think
A lot of players waste time farming before they've opened the systems that actually move the build forward. I did the same thing at first. Ran around grabbing drops, swapped a few affixes, felt busy, but didn't really get stronger. The smarter route is to get through the Skovos chain as soon as your character can handle it. The “Echoes of the Ancients” questline is the key step here, because that's where the Master's Seal Fragment comes from. Without it, you're stuck short of the full 6-slot Seal, and that limits almost every serious endgame setup. Don't sit in a comfortable World Tier forever either. If your build can clear cleanly, move up. The better upgrade path starts there.



Helltide farming needs a plan
Helltides are still worth your time, but only if you stop opening every chest like it's Christmas morning. Cinders are too valuable for that now. The best use I've found is saving them for Cursed Reliquaries, especially Reliquary of the Lost chests. They've been far more useful for Seal-compatible pieces than the basic chests scattered around the zone. It doesn't feel as exciting in the moment, because you're skipping loot that's right in front of you. Still, after a few runs, the difference shows. You get fewer junk pulls and more chances at items that actually fit the system you're building around.



Don't throw away a strong 4-slot Seal
If you've got a 4-slot Seal with good affixes, keep it. Seriously. A lot of players vendor or replace them too early because they're obsessed with slot count. The Horadric Cube gives those pieces another shot. You can combine a 4-slot Seal with three Resplendent Sparks and ten Skovos Sigils for a chance to raise its capacity. It isn't guaranteed, and yeah, that can sting. But it's still a cleaner gamble than waiting for the perfect 6-slot drop with the right rolls. Why Thorns Shield Burst Paladin feels so good
The Thorns Shield Burst Paladin has become the build I keep coming back to after the May 13 balance patch. It's not flashy in the usual way. You aren't mashing buttons nonstop or chasing tiny burst windows. You're standing your ground, throwing shields, blocking hits, and letting enemies punish themselves. Stand Firm and Divine Fortress do a lot of the heavy lifting, turning defence into damage in a way that feels simple but not brainless. Once a Grandmaster's Charm goes into a fully opened Seal, the reflection damage gets nasty.
